Kisses and misty eyes by a sea of candlelight.
Loved up celebrations surrounded by champagne and wine.
A burst of bright colours and a love fest sign.
The thrill of a first kiss.
As Mr and Mrs.
On May 17th 2014 I was floating on air, high on life and bursting with love sharing the most precious moments with the man of my dreams and my loved ones.
What does LOVE mean to us?
We believe the best love is the kind that illuminates joy, gets us laughing till our belly hurts and opens us up to endless possibilities. That plants a fire in our hearts and brings passion to our lives. And that’s what we have given each other. And will, forever.
INSPIRATION & THE FEEL
Our day was inspired by the creativity in bringing together bohemian luxe, bursts of colour and romance. It was all about the magical beauty of nature mixed with gorgeous raw materials, floras and pops of colour.
….A romantic candle-lit ceremony followed by a bright party setting, dining at dusk and share plates of gourmet food and good conversation.
Gurrgawee was beyond the perfect fit for us. We wanted a romantic candle-lit ceremony surrounded by nature, beauty and raw materials.
Walking down the isle with my mum and dad by my side and seeing BJs face was one of my favourite moments of the day. We wrote our own vowels and it was an absolute honour to read and declare my love for that man in front of our most nearest and dearest. Oh and the kiss. Well that was one magical moment of bliss and yahooos!
TIP: Have your celebrant stand to the side of you so your photographer can capture moments of just you two throughout the ceremony.
It was extremely important for our guests to be looked after the entire day. Having the ceremony at a different location to the reception, plus having post ceremony celebratory drinks, it was a must to organise some wild and crazy transport for our beautiful guests to enjoy.
BRIDAL PARTY FUN
As you would have seen above in the Ceremony photos, BJ and I went off by ourselves, after we had a few celebratory drinks with all our guests. It was really important to us to have this time by ourselves to connect, reflect and take in what just happened. It was such a beautiful experience spending time with my husband alone straight after the ceremony.
…When we arrived back at the reception we went off with our bridal party for some shots along Belongil Beach, while I guests enjoyed the food, drink & conversation. It was magical!
RECEPTION … PARTY TIME!
The Dune Room was a blank canvas with concrete polished floors and white walls, waiting for the splash of colour & floras I desired. In a few words this is how I would describe our reception:
+ Bright colours
+ A Christmas feast style layout
+ A Share platter style dinner to encourage conversation
+ Loads of floral & timber
+ A Moroccan lounge area
+ Mini Pineapples…Adore!
+ An abundant of candles
+ Extremely GOOD tunes that everyone enjoyed
Party to the moonlight.
Dance to the sunrise.
Those are the words that inspired the atmosphere and experience we wanted to create. Once the music started almost EVERYONE was dancing all night long. I remember BJ and I just standing back watching everyone dancing & laughing, it was beyond our wildest dreams.
It was really important to BJ and I to create a weekend long event, rather than just having one night to celebrate with everyone. The Sunday Sesh started at our favourite breakfast spot, Belongil Bistro. They’re artists in the kitchen…their food is divine!
After a few cocktails & delicious food, we headed back to our family beach shack and partied on till the wee hours in the morning.
+ Be PRESENT… It was really important for me not to get to the end of the night and go WHAT? I can hardly remember anything from the day. I’m so happy to say that I remember so much.
+ Take a few moments with your husband to take in and feel everything that’s going on, to watch your family and friends, laugh, smile & dance. Heart warming. You will smile ear to ear.
+ Videographer! OMG I have watched our video over and over and over and every time I’m bursting with love. To be able to re-watch all the beautiful moments from our day for the rest of our lives, is something we will cherish forever.
I’m absolutely stoked to be able to share some of the details of our wedding with you. In part 2 I’ll be sharing all the finer details and wonderful people who were involved in bringing our dream wedding to life.
Putting this blog together I felt so much love & joy. I’m looking forward to hearing from you all in the comments below.
