What’s your morning routine?

I’m not an early riser, despite my best intentions. I set my alarm for 7:30 and try to avoid snoozing and scrolling through social media first thing. This is a conscious decision as I used to feel quite anxious checking my phone before I had even opened my eyes properly!

Instead now I try to use my headspace app for 10 minutes of meditation – I love this app as it took the ‘unknown’ out of meditation for me – I open it and the next session is waiting to guide me through the process.

I hurt my back a few years ago and have had chronic pain since – so I’m a little restricted in terms of exercising.  I know the importance of moving my body for my mental health so I practice yoga 1-on-1 with my instructor and try to incorporate walks to the Lighthouse every now and then.

Living in Byron, everything is within walking distance so Wilbur {my dog} and I grab a coffee {} from our coffee shop and walk to my office. I choose a card from my favourite oracle pack and set an intention for the day.  Shuffling the deck I ask ‘what do I need to hear today’ and actually find it helps with awareness of blockages and encourages a positive mindset.  I take my to-do list and highlight 3 things I want to achieve / complete that day. I find setting 3 tasks helps me manage my time and productivity levels – a must when you work for yourself.

6 Rapid Questions

Do you have a morning ritual that no matter how crazy your morning is (knowing your normal routine won’t get done), you do?
‘Insert coffee to begin’ is a very literal phrase for me. I have my double shot flat white while checking my phone. Keeping on top of my emails and Instagram {now that I’m awake} actually makes me feel like I’ve got my shit together – like I know what’s going on in the world, and my world, and i can approach the day with all the facts.

What’s your guiding word for 2017? Allow.

What’s your favourite morning beauty hack or product?
I pencil in my eyebrows, everyday without fail. I throw my hair up in a messy bun and pop on some mascara and I’m ready for the day!

What is your go to breaky that makes you feel amazing?
Avo smash is my go-to, on the weekends I’ll add bacon.

If you could only share one piece of wisdom with the world that you’ve learned on your journey so far, what would it be?
You can do whatever you want to do, there are no life rules – we’re all winging it!
