What’s your morning routine?

I like to wake up around 6am (however in winter this moves towards 7am, as the Melbourne cold weather makes my bed more inviting!) and the first thing I do is thank the Universe for “the rain, sunshine and another beautiful day’.

Once up I will wash my face and brush my teeth and use my tongue scrapper. So much bacteria builds up over night in our mouths – and so it is important to clear this away before eating or drinking anything – otherwise you are just putting this straight back into your body!

Up next is Abhyanga- an Ayurvedic self massage, then my affirmations and energy protections for the day. I finish this off with a yoga and Gratitude meditation session. I will often write down 10 things I am grateful for in my journal before I get off my mat – as this helps me focus on the blessing’s in my life – helping me to connect to this energy throughout my day.

I then have a glass of hot water with lemon juice to kick start and signal my digestive fire it is time to prepare for the day ahead.

I love breakfast – it is my favourite meal of the day. I love to have my almond milk coffee and porridge while sitting around the kitchen table with my family and dog in winter – or outside in the sun in summer.

6 Rapid Questions

Do you have a morning ritual that no matter how crazy your morning is (knowing your normal routine won’t get done), you do?
I 100% have to use my tounge scraper and do my energy protections. Oh and I must eat something – otherwise I will turn into a hangry monster!

What’s your guiding word for 2017?

What’s your favourite morning beauty hack or product?
A head stand. This brings the blood to your face and makes you look amazing!

What is your go to breaky that makes you feel amazing?
I am huge fan of porridge. I soak the oats overnight with water and a squeeze of lemon. Then in the morning I boil almond milk with spices (such as ginger, cardamom and cinnamon) and pour this over the oats. I will top with coconut flakes, sultanas, sunflower seeds and dates. YUM! It is such a filling and warming meal – especially in winter. Sometimes to add extra variety I add matcha powder to the oats while they are soaking over night.

What book are you reading right now?
I am re-reading my favourite series I loved growing up. I just finished Harry Potter and now am onto ‘Tomorrow when the War began’ series by John Marsden. It is like hanging out with old mates again!

If you could only share one piece of wisdom with the world that you’ve learned on your journey so far, what would it be?
We are all on our own amazing journeys. Never compare yours to someone else’s. Where you are on your path is exactly where you need to be! Stay true to yourself and be #beautifullygrateful!
