Can’t decide where to stay in New York?
No prob homie! I’ve put together a selection of great places to stay in my favourite neighborhoods in Manhattan.
If you’re the type of person who loves to experience the local vibes of a place and wander around all day, then I recommend the following neighborhoods – East Village, West Village, Meatpacking District, Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown, Little Italy and Lower East Side. The atmosphere in these neighborhoods are the real deal.
Don’t stay in Times Square.
Yes it’s big, sparkly and the place to visit when in New York, but beyond the lights and hype, there is nothing much there. You should without a doubt visit Time Square (especially at night), however once you’re done, head back downtown.
+ Wyndham Garden Chinatown ::
Location: 93 Bowery, Chinatown
This hotel is very affordable, has INSANE room views and a rooftop bar with views of the Empire State Building. It’s walking distance to some amazing dumpling restaurants and some of my favourite neighborhoods.
We stayed here for the first half of our trip. What we loved the most was the location. You could easily walk to the Williamsburg Bridge or Brooklyn Bridge, it’s very close to the subway, and is walking distance to some of our favourite restaurants and bars (which I’ll be writing about in another blog soon).
Oh and let’s not forget the king size bed and amazing pillows!
+ The Marlton Hotel ::
Location: 5 W 8th St, Greenwich Village
This hotel has a romantic & historical vibe and is located in my favourite hood. Cafes and restaurants are left and right of you when you step out the door. The Comedy Cellar is just down the road.
The High Line and absolutely AMAZING Chelsea Markets (with delicious food) are in walking distance. A lot of people come to use their gorgeous lobby space to work, write, read or have a glass of wine with friends.
We stayed here during the second half of our trip. It’s a Parisian-style boutique hotel – the rooms are small, but stunning.
We felt right at home getting our daily coffee from their espresso bar in the morning, and sharing a glass or rosé by the fire at night. I would highly recommend The Marlton Hotel.
+ Gansevoort Meatpacking ::
Location: 18 9th Ave, Meatpacking District
We didn’t stay here, but we will next time. It has an uber luxe vibe. Rooftop terrace with pool and bar, and if you’re into interior design, this place is picture perfect. It’s surrounded by vibrant nightlife, places to eat, art galleries and shopping – every girls dream right.
+ Airbnb ::
No doubt New York is expensive. Hotels in particular, another option is Airbnb. There are so many beautiful spaces, like this enormous loft in Soho.
